The website has suffered some downtime recently - sadly this is due to us once again being the target of some stupid little hack selling sites (obviously they don't like their members being banned). Personally I see the attacks as proof that we are having some effect in the anti-cheat world.
The website itself is pretty secure, with a lot of custom security. A directed attack was made on the shoutbox to inject code into the database which failed (although because of shoutbox security it took itself offline ) The only attack that has had any effect has been 2 distrubited denial of service attacks (including last night) - basically a group of about 800 computers all accessing the site at the same time takes us offline. Generally these attacks are short lived and the website returns to normal. I would also like to thank the hacking kiddie noobs... We're still here and you're doing wonders for our monthly traffic hehe..noobs Also MonkeyFiend.com (my site, which I mainly use as a file repository and place to test new code) has also been attacked - guess they've got it in for me -------------------- |

What a bunch of faggots, wish they would stop pissing around with trying to crash games and just try playing them instead.

Ok, website and server(s) have been hit by another Dos attack and directed injection and cracking attack - considerably more attacking computers this time (roughly 2000) - at least the hacker kids are putting some effort in now.
Even with all the effort of a co-ordinated attack the website is still secure as ever and was only temporarily knocked offline for a few hours. The game-server both withstood the attacks without anything other than slight lag spikes of +20ms The new wave of attacks have also focussed on our Name servers (although I applaud some quite sneaky attempts at dns poisoning) - so some of you with cached or opendns DNS (I'll assume fido/raile) will still have been able to get online anyway If the website is likely to be off for more than 24 hours then we will failover to backup facilities, some alternate dedicated hosting/dns. However in these kinds of cases its easier to sit and wait it out. -------------------- |
