The player database is now up and running: SneakyMonkeys.com Lookup tool

This tool will allow you to search for players by name or hash and if they have played on our server then they should be searchable with this tool. This will make sorting out bans when someone has left the server easier, since you'll be able to lookup their name (accepts partial names) and get their player hash (which can then be put in bf2cc)

It will also log the first time they visited the server (at the moment times are in US eastern), will correct this soon

This is not a complete database, it will record anyone that plays on our server. We actually do have this info buried in connection logs etc., but this website will make it easier for all our admins to get to smile.gif

At the moment its open to clan members only (since it contains hash info) - I've previously posted in the members section with username/password details. If you don't have access and think you should then send me a pm.

Again, I'm in work and haven't tested it (!) so let me know if it works or if there are bugs (as its quite complicated code, so am sure there will be tongue.gif)

It should remotely refresh the player database every 10 minutes

Since *'s can be used in clan tags, it wouldn't make sense to use them as wildcards.

Also while the database is small, a wildcard search shouldn't be a problem but could topple to DB when it grows much larger (I've added a script to kill any unually large queries though)

Also not using wildcards is a security feature, since its probably best for someone not to be able to dump the entire contents of a playername/hash database tongue.gif

At the moment the minimum search string is 3 chracters - so poviding you can remember 3 characters of a persons name, it should return all applicable results

I've also sent you a PM regarding other security/logging measures tongue.gif

2500+ players in the player databazse and counting...

I forgot to mention some of the useful methods of using this database....

1. You can look up players by name (or part of their name, 3 or more characters)
2. You can look up the player by their hash (or part of their hash, again 3 or more characters)

What you may not know is this:

3. If you look up a player by name e.g. magik5, it will give you his hash
If you then copy this hash and paste it into the hash lookup form it will show you any other player-names used by that hash on the server since the database has been online

The above is useful for looking up potential players in disguise or looking up new private accounts if they look a bit iffy tongue.gif

I've got a database with 180,000ish player details in it, however to keep things simpler we're using a database populated only by players who've been on the SM server and not the rest of the world (as we shouldn't really need to know about them tongue.gif)

Questions/comments, hit me tongue.gif

i was feeling a bit random yesterday so i thought id bring my old account back and go on a knifing spree ;D

its a really cool tool to have though, helps with banning people when they arent on the server as you can get their hash codes and ctrl c+v into cc
