Salutations, Elusive Primates! This is your all-time favourite Def_Glitch speaking.

On Thursday, the 2nd February, at around 9:00pm to 10:00pm, I was banned for using racist language.

A bit of context: Shortly before I was banned, a player came online with the tag "Digger Nick", which to me was obviously a comically, poorly disguised reference to a black man's genitals. Being my usual self, I couldn't help but comment "Big black Digger Nick?", to which this player replied with affirmation and in good natured humour. Shortly thereafter, I was banned by HackedPenguin (or at least a window popped up listing his name).

I realised I had overstepped and didn't think much of it. However when I yesterday tried to join the server after around 10:00pm, believing it was just a 24 hour ban, I was still banned.

I know the rules on your server, I often enough remind other people when they start and try to argue for their "rights to free speech" that the rules are clear from the start. I avoid racist language on your server and I have rarely if at all been adressed for minor failings. This instance was a one-time offense, to which I agree I have earned a punitive time-out, but I refuse to accept a permaban. As a regular on your server for over a year, I think your admins are familiar enough with me and if I had been such a horrible player, you would have had reason to ban me much, much earlier than this instance of poor taste humour.

Because of this, I would like to request my ban to be lifted.

Thank you for your time to read my appeal and thank you in advance for your efforts.

As you pointed out it was indeed me who banned you.

A couple of points:

I didn't read the chat at that moment, and I only paid attention to it when Rotor messaged me saying he had banned "Digger Nick". I then quickly took myself to the chat and saw what you'd written and proceeded to give you a ban.

We don't need your approval for the decisions we take when administrating the server. I ban EVERYONE who uses racist language permanently, no exceptions. I believe that anyone who sinks to that level, humor or no (it can be hard to tell sometimes, especially over the internet), shouldn't be allowed to bring their negative attitudes on the server. But if a person admits they're wrong and apologises for it I'm more than happy to give them a second chance.

Since you're a regular I'd hoped that you would know the rules and more than that actually obey them. The title of "a regular" doesn't give immunity to the application of the rules, no matter how good buddies you are with the admins. And I can say this with happiness: you have behaved well for all the time I've seen you on the server, there's nothing that would've given me, or anyone else for that matter I believe, to ban you.

With that out of the way. Like I said I'm more than willing to give people a second chance, that's why the ban will be lifted. I hope you'll think about the points I laid out.

Be seeing you on the server soon smile.gif

Thank you very much Pengu.

I apologise for my wording. Naturally, I agree to your terms when I wish to make use of your server, and so I have no legal rights to make demands or claims of any nature.

The appeal to my regularity was more in hopes to emphasise that I can be trusted to uphold the rules and this incidence was a slip-up.

Again, thank you very much for this second chance, and I am more than happy to be able to enjoy the Elusive Primates once again!

Yours truly
