Greetings all,
I have been a longtime lurker on Sneaky Monkeys, donated on occasion too. But due to over commitments to another gaming community have never bothered to socialize on the forums, I only ever voted. I know some of you know me, Some of you probably hate my feinting. However i thought i would say hello and ask a couple of questions regarding your servers as i recently discovered something i don't like very much and didn't believe was going on involving some of the SM admins on the chivalry server. Both friends and i frequently use your servers as they are nothing short of the best we find, However there seems to be an ever increasing number of random kicks being put down, Usually i wouldn't believe anyone when they told me that they were kicked from a round unfairly, That includes some of the other long time players, Which is both annoying when you have to wait to get a place back. But tonight i feel that i experienced this myself. While i will not name/shame anyone personally as its not something i found ever did any good. I have never had any problem with the server or admins in all the time i have played on there, Except Sneeky because he kicks me into rivers, At 19:40 10/10/2014 I was kicked for -annoying- behavior, With a claim that i was warned several times, Utterly shocked at this as i neither team kill/troll/block or do anything otherwise unacceptable i looked back through my Over wolf and found no such thing had occurred. After asking politely why i was kicked, I was given nothing short of a vague excuse and a reference to the SM house party rule. While we will always respect the server and its admin, I think that being clear to your players is only fair isnt it? Both in game and out?, You warn me about something, I will -always- listen, While i can appreciate a admin might be click happy when they are in a bad mood or feel someone has broken a rule (Two have admitted this to me themselves ^^). An explanation would be polite. I frequently role play in game for a laugh with friends and have never had anyone take issue with this, I have seen SM members take part time and time again for some comical fun. However on this occasion i was asked to tone it down and i did. Could someone please look back through the log and send me a message to explain why i was kicked? As far as i was aware a SM admin were not given the power to kick someone just because they personally found them -annoying- ... Or were they? If so, Ill have to rethink the way i play the game next time i kick Porsuk into a river.

These two are unrelated. It was towards a guy who was asking why we were poisoning the wells we were conquering.

I'll be the first to admit I can overreact towards annoying behaviour. Most admins probably know this, too. However, saying he's gotten no warnings and that he 'demands an explanation' as to why I kicked him are a bridge too far for me. He had gotten multiple warnings after which I was, in essence, told to shut up. His general attitude appeared to be that he could do everything he wants, that he's king, as long as he didn't break the tk rule.

I couldn't care less about the kick anymore. What's irritating me at the moment is the way he handles it. During the entire conversation everything's my fault and I should apologize. I've worked with people like this in real life and I absolutely despise that attitude.

We've had some attitude problems lately and we keep an extra eye out for it, some more than others. This is why I kicked you off the server.

I wont hide the fact i disagree with many of the decisions some admins make or the way they talk to people (dithyrambique). Soon you wont be able to talk or play on the server without fear of being kicked or banned.

No it isnt, "I'll be the first to admit I can overreact towards annoying behaviour" Self explanatory, Just because -YOU- want to slam on everybody else and take offense at something not directed at you in the slightest doesnt give you right right to be a douchebag, a view shared by many right now. I have worked with people like -you- myself, in several different countries. Your vague, aloof and totally self rightous in every decision you make, This is a computer game and a community on it, A view shared not only by me but others.
If your going to go down the holy-than thou road Turbo-midget i would suggest you get your story -straight- and stick to your guns when deciding to kick people in their ass. Next time we see people either roleplaying screwing around with firepots/catapultbreaking/kicking we can expect you to kick everybody involved right? ^^ YOU and plenty of other SM admins have never taken any issue with in character jesting before and have even encouraged it and taken part yourself. Actually, I never take part in that stuff and several admins can attest to that. Not sure why you're making this one up.

This stinks of hypocrisy and you -know- it, I have seen plenty of SM members and regular players make jesting comments in regards to pillaging and raping as Masons, I have seen a SM member threatening to f*** me with club if i failed to hit someone with a catapult and more, Nobody ever took it so seriously then, It was frequently funny, So why now? Everyone knows i would never tell an Admin to shut up or make him by bitch, Anyone who plays SM knows i would only ever apologise and try to make light of anything i could ever do wrong. I was told to tone it down and i -did-. As for Turbo never engaging in anything, i know otherwise, He has been quite happy to lol around with Farmer kicking anyone who tries to attack him in the balls, Sure maybe everyone considers Farmer a exception, I probably do too. But the principle is the same. The Kick was unnecessary and weak, As i stated before, Are we going to see everyone get the same when they do something just Turbo doesn't like? After getting a few messages today i'm getting the impression this isn't the first time there has been issues with regards to a Admin beating down on players recently, I cant say i have ever experienced or seen anyone abusing the powers they have as much as people claim. But maybe being a little less vague wouldn't do any harm for some of the Admins to your regular players and their friends.
Fact remains, the majority of SM Admin do a straight up task of keeping the server clean of mischief makers, And ill keep donating playing on SM. But beware the effect click happy kicking/banning could have on people. I know im not the only one with a sour taste in his mouth recently. Maybe it's because English isn't my native language, but for me and after reading everything (sorry, it's a public thread, you chose to post here instead of sending a PM to monkeyFiend as it is stated in the MotD) everything looks clear to me.
I also go like "what the fuck man ?" whenever I see someone using rape comments and stuff like that. Never complained about it, but I find that out of place, too extreme for a game supposed to be fun. I agree with the guy who said it creates a bad atmosphere. Maybe you should consider that some people don't think it's funny. Everyone may have an opinion and just because you think its funny don't give you the right to say it is actually funny and the ones who don't like it can't get jokes or understand roleplaying.
You know, I got permabanned after 200+ hours on Limited Archer (it was lifted after few hours) for one single intentionnal hit to a full health ally. What did I do ? Complaining on the forums because I see people TK two allies on purpose and only get a kind warning ? No. I apologized. Maybe being a bit humble and get over this without overracting (it was just a kick, why making such a public scandal ?) would just make things better and help keeping it clean. Admins are judges and may take a decision that isnt defined in the rules if THEY think (not you) it's justified. That is even stated in the official Torn Banner rules.
But that's just my opinion, as you have yours. Please, just try to understand other's opinions.

Regardless of who you are both in SM and outside it. It is an unusual kick here. I have not read the rules, but I have been in the clan for a number of years. I have never seen someone get kicked for rambling on in the game chat unless they were being racists and disrespectful of other players. I do not see any of that from the chat logs. I type all kinds of crazy shit into the game chat and can get a bit carried away sometimes, but I drink a lot and live on the other side of the lake. Just wanted to throw my opinion out there before I quit drinking for the night
I'm with Turbo on this one. I can see where he is coming from. A lot of the action taken by admins is up to admin discretion. Stormcrow was not only warned multiple times but also denied being warned and kept on with the disruptive behavior. Turbo had full rights to kick there, I can even quote from the rules :
"Admins have the rights to remove players from game for reasons such as excessively high ping (typically around 200ms although this may be lower/higher depending on server performance) or for behaviour that is considered disruptive to the server as a whole, including excessive use of high-fov 3rd person VG overheads (these players should be warned and kicked first)"

After messaging the admin, demanding an explanation, Turbo explained why he kicked you but rather than understanding why you were kicked, you decided it was a good idea to blame the admin for everything and then ask for an apology.

Time for me to weigh in with my godlike opinions
From what I can see stormcow joined the server and was in full roleplay mode (which is consistent behaviour), then came the comments of burning, rape and, much like The production of Tesco clothing, Child enslavement. However I suppose they are in keeping with such a game - listen to the knight VO on dark forest when he demands that he be 'brought the queen and kill the rest'. Perhaps it's a reference to chess? I hope so. I like chess.
So then comes the 'don't take this too far' - Sooo was this about the rape comments or the excessive roleplay spam in general. If the rapey comments warranted a kick*, then it could have been done here. Still this appears to be a warning. If the 'don't take it too far' was aimed at the roleplaying in general. I'd argue anyone roleplaying, has probably taken things too far already and needs some sort of intervention. Maybe someone should take away their foam axes and have a quiet word over a nice cup of tea.

Now I may be reading this wrong, but it was only at the suggestion that penguin be made a tavern wench. This in itself is preposterous - penguins have flippers, can you imagine them serving drinks in a tavern? They'd spill drinks everywhere. They'd also be too short, unless you werelying on the floor trying to get drinks and that normally only happens later in my nights out. So using my Sherlockholmesian powers of deduction the implications are that there was some flirting going on here and only when stormcow suggested the involvement of a third party (penguin) did the rage of hypothetic betrayal result in a kick from the server.
So in summary:
There were at least 3 warnings before a kick
Penguins do not make good waiters
Never suggest a threesome unless all parties are up for it

Is RP allowed? Yes - there's nothing saying it's not. Although there probably should be. Filthy roleplayers. Get a job and cut your lank greasy hair!
Are rape comments allowed? no rules against them afaik. Especially from context - it's not like the comment was aimed at someone in particular e.g. I'm going to creep out from under your bed tonight and push your poo. Plenty of raferences in game to gangrape that go unpunished.
Was it spammy? yeah quite a bit of text. No one really complained though (for serverwide disruption) and if that's the problem, can always mute or at least say he's being kicked for being a 'spammy mofo'
Were there warnings before the kick? Amongst the flirtatious subtext, yes 3 of them
So there were warnings and the was a kick. If the kick was due to comments regarding 'forced lovin'' then that could have happened earlier in the conov. If the kick was due to spammification then this could have been mentioned.
Afaict the kick was done legitimately after some warnings, however whether the kick should have been made for either rape comments or general spam I don't believe it breaks any particular rules.
The general convo from stormcow didn't seem to break any particular rules unless you're being overly strict on their interpretation.
Finally..

From what I can see stormcow joined the server and was in full roleplay mode (which is consistent behaviour), then came the comments of burning, rape and, much like The production of Tesco clothing, Child enslavement. However I suppose they are in keeping with such a game - listen to the knight VO on dark forest when he demands that he be 'brought the queen and kill the rest'. Perhaps it's a reference to chess? I hope so. I like chess.
So then comes the 'don't take this too far' - Sooo was this about the rape comments or the excessive roleplay spam in general. If the rapey comments warranted a kick*, then it could have been done here. Still this appears to be a warning. If the 'don't take it too far' was aimed at the roleplaying in general. I'd argue anyone roleplaying, has probably taken things too far already and needs some sort of intervention. Maybe someone should take away their foam axes and have a quiet word over a nice cup of tea.

Now I may be reading this wrong, but it was only at the suggestion that penguin be made a tavern wench. This in itself is preposterous - penguins have flippers, can you imagine them serving drinks in a tavern? They'd spill drinks everywhere. After speaking to a few SM admins, And even looking back over the chat logs myself, I now have to admit some of the language used was a little ... Exercises? Crude? .. Ill put it down to too much happy juice and loss playing with friends, As much as it KAINS me to admit, I think Turbo DID do his job as as admin, All know me and know how I join games while at work and not, I had enough sympathetic messages from SM admins to know many sympathise with my moaning, given what others and more have been up to recently, Ill put it down to my lack of common sense in this case,( ON my behalf) but as expected, I maybe just didn't expect Turbo to take anything I say so seriously, But that is -my- problem, Ill apologise to TM in game for being so prickly and for bringing his integrity into question. Because as much as i would like to be in the right, I believe i was (On this occasion) In the wrong.
But i would like to remind all, As a donation and very frequent player of SM, That I expect a very fair chance and say in all that goes on! Like all other SM supporters. Because there is never else I would rather play while I'm travelling round the world, And if ANY of my own and others roleplay in game effects anybody, please tell us and give us the chance to right it

Only partly. My biggest concern perhaps was some 13-year old seeing what you were saying. It's tough, gets attention and soon he'll be doing it too, but without the roleplaying. Throw in another few youngsters and you've got yourself a verbal riot. Not your fault, I know, but it's easier to talk to grown ups than it is to pissed off youngsters.
If a similar situation ever arises, I'll give you a heads up through the steam chat. Should prevent escalation by taking the role-playing out of the equation
