Right am going to try and plan this a bit, so I don't cock it up. This post in mainly to remind myself what I'm doing

L4D server setup

Firstly I'm planning on 2x L4D1 servers and 2x L4D2 servers for the clan.

I'll be opening the old servers (gameservers.com servers - while they're still in contract) to the public and rebuilding the newer e-frag servers.

L4D1

Server 1: IP:28001
Server 2: IP:28002

L4D2

Server 3: IP:28003
Server 4: IP:28004

(Will also add from time to time: Monkeys Test Server IP:8008 (heh boobs tongue.gif)
The port numbers should make it easier to remember which server to use e.g. server 2 ends in number 2 etc.,

I'm going to rename the old servers as server 10, 11, 12, 13 - just to keep them separate, out of the way of the existing ones and far enough away to not conflict with any future servers.

The current e-frag server is maxed out, so this will be a full install on another server.

Will post updates as I go and keep the sneakymonkeys.com/admin.txt file upto date.

- am expecting to start this on Monday

how do we get onto our server on l4d2 because theres no console is there?

As already posted elsewhere:

I've updated the sneakymonkeys.com/admin.txt file with connection details.

Doing the mm_dedicated_force before a lobby works. Also you can use the bind "F9" "toggleconsole" in the console: this lets you press F9 to use the console at any time, including when in a lobby. Probably worth putting this in one of your game configs so it loads each time the game does*

*Use the ..\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\cfg\autoexec.cfg

bind "F9" "showconsole"

did not work in the above config file for me... although you would think this is the correct place for it considering the rest of the bind keys are there

Edited my post above: the toggleconsole bind works. I've used a new file called autoexec.cfg in the \cfg folder but it may work just by plonking it at the end of the config.cfg file too.
