i like the board without a case idea. seen some without a case on =FaRT= forums. makes it alot easier to switch shit out.
MonkeyFiend
yep, makes it a lot easier to get at stuff - especially since the board has a power button built onto it etc., - I couldn't find a suitable case to hold all the hard drives and ones close to it cost over £100 and required shed loads of cooling.

Instead I used the case money for other things, it's bolted to the wall (making theft tricky), also it doesn't really gather dust - I found cases mean forcing high volumes of air through them, so gather dust Lots of fans to cool also means lots of noise

. Without the artificial airflow forcing dust into the system the heat just convects up and away, the components are still cool and everything is silent since there are only 2 low rpm fans with the chipset and voltage regulators.

Out of curiosity (I'm nosy) you've got win7 which handles lots of ram, so why have you 6gb with only 3 usable?
Magik5
32bit at a guess...
MonkeyFiend
fair do's; although the 32bit limit is 4gb except on the starter os which is 2gb if I remember correctly

i thought it was 3.25gb for 32 bit?
Magik5
it all depends if your sharing memory with other hardware like gfx card etc. i think windows does this automatically... long time since i used 32bit and had to worry about these sorts of things biggrin.gif

Its where I can only get the front 3 speakers and the sub wired in, because unless the rear units have developed the ability to float in mid-air without wiring, then I cant hang them on sod all, can I?
Magik5
theyd make nice earings ;p
Cabletwitch
I suppose I could get two lanky twats to come and stand behind me, and hold them while I play? Dan, Marc, you guys up for it? ;O)
Magik6
rofl jog on, I'm the perfect height, neither lanky nor short biggrin.gif

My new gaming area. almost finished with it biggrin.gif
McJaffa
K, I don't see the obsession with pictures. Personally my rig could look like a turd for all I care as long as it was ninja-fast.

oh, and Munkey, WTF how old is that UPS? If those are the original cells in it I will be impressed cos that thing must be 8 years old at least.

Anyhoo, specwise my current pre-BF3 rig is:

Case: Antec P183 (no pimp windows or flashing dials so no point in pictures but might do if I decide to airbrush it)
Mobo: Asus P6X58D
CPU: i7 950 @ 3.65GHz
RAM: 6GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz
GFX: GTX 275OC (until BF3 then might upgrade if required)
Screen(s): 24" LG 1080p & 19" Dell 4:3
Sound: PCI Audigy 4
Mouse: logitech G500
Mat: Steelseries
Keyboard: bogo standard HP freebie
Joystick: Saitek Cyborg Evo Force
Wheel: Logitech Driving Force GT
......USB cup-warmer
fido77
ninjas do normally look like turds tongue.gif
