Server Cheat Checks, a note on how they work... Options

There's been a little confusion on how some of the anti-cheat measures on the server work, so I'll try and break it down a little.

A player joins the server..

first thing the player is checked against the PBBans Ban list, then the PsB and GameViols banlists (and then our personal ban list) - if found they are kicked immediately.

If they are not on the global banlist or on our own personal ban list they are allowed to play.

Next the server begins its checking, it will take screenshots in 2 locations: 1. middle of the screen, 2. middle of screen up to right hand corner (so map is in view) it allows a screenshot to be taken every 20 minutes. Often screenshots are not returned or are corrupted, so we may not have screenshots for everyone playing on the server (especially if they are only on for a short time)

It also starts the file integrity checks. Now due to lag etc., it will run a check on 1 file on a players computer every 30 seconds. There are about 100+ file checks, so in theory someone could play on the server with a hack for a while - they may not get banned instantly... however they will eventually get picked up.

PB screenshots never result in an automatic ban - they must be reviewed by people to check for dodgy activity, if found are then reported to PBBans/PsB for adding to the master ban list.

Finally I'd like to say this now (October 19th 2007) - I often use gfx of chimps/monkeys etc., I know the the difference between the monkey family and the ape family. I'll mention this now as I'm sure someone is going to try to be clever and point out my 'mistake' hehe
