Hello great and wonderful people of SM. I have been talking with some players on your 64 player server about the current map rotation on it. I've found it that quite a few wants it to change it. I do realise only members have a vote in this matter and that's fine. I just propose that you vote to see if the opinions of the masses reflect the opinions of the members.


Now, the maps we would think should be removed is Shore. Everytime it comes up a lot of map votes start pouring in. I personally think the map is okey but the last objektiv is just dreadful, especially for the Mason Order. Just getting on the boat with the flag is infuriating. I'd like for members that happen to love this map to not take this personally.

There is also something wrong with this map, for it's a community made map I believe, if this map is next on a rotation, the cmw.exe will crash like with a 90% chance, but ye, it might be my potato PC but I have no problems with other maps loading, but it ain't fun to CTD like 9 out of 10 times

Shore doesn't crash for me not nearly as often as Cove does.

Sigh I like Shore, it sucks but I enjoy it for some reason. And sometimes Masons do manage to win and it feels great.

Don't know how I'm going to vote yet.

The only problem with the SM server is too few maps, no way in hell I'm voting yes to remove yet another one, or soon it's gonna be hillside on a loop laugh.gif

Problem in Shore as attackers is just like in any map with huge amount of players like in any other: lack of coordination, ppl just play like in team deathmatch or last team standing (yet I've seen cryings "No hell!" etc. if there's initiated vote for one biggrin.gif)

Actually I saw almost 4 times the Mason team winning Shore biggrin.gif it all stands in rushing all at once on the cliffs and get the boat before all the Agathians can regroup, because they spawn in different points.

I voted no, I luv shore biggrin.gif

That's another topic, 'cause it states TO in the server name. =SM= wants that server to be mainly TO. Adding other game modes in the map rotation would then make the server name deceptive and drift way from its original purpose. That info could (would be surprised if true) be outdated. EDIT : actually doesn't state TO in the name anymore. That's past for a long time. I'm an idiot.

Talking about balance, yeah.... uuuuuum.... no. There is no such thing in 64p TO. So difficult it is frustrating ? Yeah, try Belmez as agathian (run 2 full minutes avoiding multiple arrows/rocks falling on your head, ladders being pushed so you fall, burnt by oil, running straight forward on a long narrow bridge to make mason archers' life easier.... and when you finally manage to be within reach to hit a mason and get gang-banged, one of them just kicks you down the wall and you are done, repeat) or Coldfront as agathian (yeah, that King stage) or hillside if 3-4 brandifags good players are defending.

Talking about going to objective near enemy spawn ? Well in King's Garden agatha has to go THROUGH and PAST the mason spawn to get to the king. Yep. No balance issue there ?

You can't have a perfectly balanced battlefield when 64 retards are roaming around a map made for 32. That size of server is best for a big mess, not for a fair battle

That's why I foqin loved that broken map Irilla was. Soooooooooooo long, sooooooooooo mad (at last step u have the chance of going killing ninja priests instead of saving Malrich XD ) but accurately spawn-balanced talking about the distance from the objective.

I'm currently praying Chtulu to set Irilla back into the map list biggrin.gif

So for the last week I was secretly spying the map rotation on this server and it goes like this: Belmez, Stonehill, the map before shore, Shore, Belmez and so on... It's not even the thing that this map is whole definiton of badness (the stages having +3min to timers, third stage won't let mason respawn, they have to run the distance even if they are at the balista and Agatha are FORCED to respawn so they are marching in full strength) in 64p server, it's the thing that 80% this map gets voted to a different map, 60% case being Belmez, thus skipping like 8 great maps between them, I don't see any point keeping this map in a rotation, but ye it's just my2cents and it was decided already but I can ramble about right 'cause i'm angry and this is what forums are for biggrin.gif

Maybe you can manage to calm your anger trying to put a spaghetti pasta string into both the holes you have into your palms and lifting up meatballs with the edges. It should be funny happy.gif

Generally the map rotation has been sucky as of late. And it shows with so many people moaning and groaning like old nans about it in chat.
There have been a ton of new maps created and finished in workshop and I'm at a loss as to why SM haven't even tried throwing just a couple of them into the mix.

Chiv wasn't however meant to have balanced maps, I find the game far more fun with maps that are not balanced. It adds far more satisfaction to achieving a hard objective.

Taking away shore would be a bad move I say.

Mixing the map rotation would be - imho, a very good idea. Someone has to do the math tho.

if I'm not mistaken voting a map does not skip the server through the rotation e.g.

If the current round of castle assault finishes and battlegrounds starts and people successfully vote for something like kingsgarden then the server reverts to it's usual rotation, in this case skipping the voted battlegrounds and starting drunkenbazaar next. This is the reason if people vote for belmez when on dark forest they essentially end up playing belmez twice in a row tongue.gif

We've had a little experimentation with custom maps, however we've found that these turn a lot of people off. I'm more than happy to run a server identical to the 64 slot server (or 32 slots, 40 slots, 50 slots etc) but with custom maps only or standard maps + custom maps rolled in. The simple fact is when we've done this in the past the servers stay empty.

Given that the 64 slot TO server is the most popular in the world, I'd be wary of just changing it intrinsically: kind of the point here is to keep the server as popular as possible and experimenting with custom maps in the past has not been a way to do so.

However am more than happy to shuffle the rotation of the maps around if people suggest some improvements,
