It's easier to do it through game using cvars in the console:
sm_cvar mp_gamemode coop sm_cvar mp_gamemode versus sm_cvar mp_gamemode survival rcon should also work (but is pretty redundant) with the above once you've logged in -------------------- |

when you connect to the server with only one of you in, if its in vs itll kick you after a few seconds - not enough time to enter commands
but it seems the force dedicated server command works fine, but STILL cant get console in lobby, even after binding toggleconsole to a key -------------------- |

@dan: works for me.. what key are you binding it to? I heard grumbling that this only works on Function keys. Is this our server's you're on about?
@Contender: I believe you login to rcon 'rcon_password ####' then just 'mp_gamemode "coop"' etc., - although using rcon in game is pointless (as sourcemod superceeds this and doesn't require you to login) it in there as legacy support for remote tools such as HLSW. -------------------- |

mp_gamemode is no longer a command in or out of game. Tried logging into rcon in server and also by using HLSW.
I dunno how sourcemod works, how to login etc. You made a linky on here? -------------------- |

ahh you're on about l4d2 servers - indeed mp_gamemode has been removed for some reason (much the many complaints of the masses)
It should still work in l4d1 though, but no alternatives in l4d2 yet -------------------- |

@dan: works for me.. what key are you binding it to? I heard grumbling that this only works on Function keys. Is this our server's you're on about? bound it to f9, and it worked in main menu after testing - but when creating a lobby and testing in there, it no longer worked / would not open as for the vs thing, when connecting to our servers either via console' connect ip' or just selecting it from the groups servers list on the main menu list, itll boot you a few seconds after you spawn in so have no time to type any commands to switch over to campaign mode both talking about l4d2 btw -------------------- |
