Poll on 1st person / 3rd person, Public vote Options

Hi all,

Although this is a decision to be taken by the clan, I feel that the public whom play on our servers should have a chance to provide their opinions. I'll therefore add this poll into the server message spam.

The poll relates to recent complaints about the combination of High FOV, 3rd person and lookdown overheads. It was confirmed as not a bug by the devs, however many feel that the culmination of these mechanics gives unfair advantage.

The only way to fairly prevent this (since if we ban it, we could only enforce individual bans based on admin interpretation) would be to remove the 3rd person view.

I am aware that many people use 3rd person view without using high FOV and looking at the floor while overheading shots.

Anyway, I'll add a similar poll in the clanmembers section, but figured the public vote would also give the clan something to consider as we have no definite numbers as to how many players use 3rd person.

Noooooooooo, i have never used 1st person and never want to, something bad will happen if it's ever taken away! I don't know what but just don't please. Some of us just enjoy playing it that way and nothing more.

Easy solution: The "limited archers" server will become first person only and the other server stays 1st + 3rd.
Then you guys have one server with 40%+ archers and overhead glitchers and one ambitious server (;

love ur servers, 50 man + limited archers = epic! but please don't take away 3rd person- i think it would alienate a large proportion of users who only play 3rd person (including me) i know floor sniffing is annoying but this is a draconian solution!

Thanks for the comments. It does appear that while removing 3rd person would address the issues, the collateral damage on regular players who use 3rd person normally would be too high.

The only other method we'd have to for addressing it would be to ask admins to guage if a player is excessively 'floor-sniffing' then issue warnings and eventual kicks. However this then opens us up to the issue of interpretation of whether someone is doing this or not :S

At the moment the limited archer server is differentiated by the archer thing. I'd not like to start a variety of servers to cater for all playstyle : archers/no archers/ 3rd person/no 3rd person. Plenty of the people that want to play in 3rd person playon the archers server or on the carnage server so applying this change to one wouldn't really be workable.

But is this really a problem?? If the players truly are disruptive, then surely votekicking would be the way forward?? if the majority on the server agrees then the players will just get kicked until they find elsewhere or adjust themselves

Hello, I'm Amador (A.K.A. Shureño), 3rd person restrict is a need cause the first person is the real way to play Chivalry, just skill and realism, games with 3rd person are not just as fun cause noobs and lammers exploit the 3rd person to easily kill more skilled players. We have only few servers with that restriction, if SM server do, it would have a difference and it would attract more skilled players.

I agree with meowric, if people really hate it that much just get rid of the person doing it. There is plenty of people using 3rd person with no exploits and i rarely see people doing it anyway, personally the only extreme case ive seen is skyfall who was actually good at it.

Although it was posted in the member area, after reviewing the results of both the public and clan member polls, the decision was to allow 3rd person, but to warn and eventually kick people who use excessive high-fov 3rd person crouched overhead (floor sniffing), style of gameplay

wow, i am really shoked. i played on the server, not knowing that you would change the setup of the server like that. Just my two cents on that topic:

- you will lose a lot of good gamers, which use to game only in 3rd person.
- its a game mechanic. you "allow" the guys to feint, but you dont allow to use 3rd person, because a minority abuses the "groundsniffing"? i dont see the logic.
- at the server we do not have often the problem that a gamer is abusing the so called "groundsniffing". if so, we tell him to stop, and in 90% the gamer stops it.
- i use to play vanguard in 1st and knight with hammer in 3rd. this means, that i will have to stop playing knight at SM. that means for me that i have to change the server, because i really love to play knight. its just a my fate/problem, i know.

think about it. this is the most wore decision ever made by SM.

I'm cool with the 1st person only, if someone wants a third person slasher then they can go buy elder scrolls online lol, if I may suggest have one server 1st person only and the other with both, but both need a limit on those archers they piss me right off XD, hope this helps , btw 1st is for real players

But Draconix, Elder Scrolls Only is more fun in 1st person :c - Apart from getting steamrolled in Cyrodiil by vampire sorcerers.


Anyway, I think it's best keeping both views, as first person only is forcing people to change their playstyle, which isn't always as fun as it may sound.

I'll stick with what we have now, 1 server for 1st person and 1 server for both 1st and 3rd person. The only thing I'd like to see changed is advertising which is which more clearly in the name. People seem to be confused by it too easily.

I play only in first , but there are too many player who play in third.
