Ok this may be daft... but what are your goals in minecraft?

You might wonder why I ask this, well I just think its an awesome way of assigning roles (unrestricted and unofficial yet worthwhile... possibly).

Tell us your plans and hopefully, in the true spirit of minecraft, we can help you achieve them.

I, personally, love nothing more than helping folks out as much as I can (dig deep in my mines and chests and use the resources well). That, and organisation, seem to be my main drives in the minecraft world.

I opt to become your road-maker, border definer (think of me as the council over counties) and sign-writer (this meaning I place signs not write them, most of the time I don't know exactly what the area is... I just know when a sign telling us what to do or where we are is necessary). Roads, despite our thriving rail network, are our mental mapping tools. They help us create a link to the (virtual) physical environment thus enriching our sociable experiences by appropriating regions of space to our minecraft population. This in turn, like reality, gives a sense of community.

I love architecture and strive to create interesting structures and habitats.

Secondary to my main drive is the idea of (virtual) physical beauty. I like vistas and landscapes. The elegance of random chaos to provide us with picturesque scenery, and the modification or taming of those environments, deemed ugly or abrasive, allows us to perfect this further. A landscape gardener might be another good description of my interest set.

Given my interests and drives you would be forgiven if you thought my approach to minecraft a rather stale and organised one, but in truth I encourage diversity. Logic and reason have always been good companions to me yet I do not like to see their use ridged. Innovation, after all, is gained from thinking from outside of the box, after all smile.gif

What about you?

What do you find interesting in the virtual world we are creating? Be free to be as definate or non-committal as you like smile.gif

I look forward to seeing what your all up to wink.gif

hear hear Counsellor Aki!

as part of the ongoing urban refubishment the civil structures committee gives thee the power to create a road, rail and sign network to rival any other.

I shall leave no rock unturned,no sand unexcavated and no tree standing in my efforts to provide the much needed building materials for this endeavor.

My expertise definately lies in construction and interior design, particularly in the latest subterranean dwelling technology.

Firstly I don't think the draw distance will allow that but by all means every land must have its city. If you find somewhere untouched yet within a reasonable distance (by reasonable I mean far enough away so that it not be distasteful, lol, yet not so far that it cannot be seen, or that would just defeat the point of it lol) from our current endeavours I will gladly give you a hand in whatever way I can smile.gif

(lol ... I can see a whole planning permission division springing up tongue.gif)

As for coal, as with everything its hit and miss. The best thing to do is actually resign yourself to mining intensively every once in a while. Don't bother so much as starting a new mine from scratch as this takes a lot of effort and you may still find nothing of use. The best thing is to go caving. Pick a direction and head in it. Make sure you leave markers so you can find your way back easily. Any natural holes in the ground should be explored. Make sure you take some coal and plenty of wood for tools and torches. Once in a cave system you can take two routes. Firstly is the explorer, where you just run through all the dark spaces planting torches. This way you can discover the size and extents of the caves and perhaps some of the rarer resources quicker. Secondly you can follow the path of the miner/industrialist. Just stop at every ore you see exposed, mine it thoroughly, then move on... planting torches as you go.

Hope that helps. smile.gif
