i have corndawgs laptop right now. it won't run the updates. i have tried to manually update it and have tried to let the automatic updating work. it just acts like it is going to update and then just shuts off without actually installing the updates. it says it has around 45 updates that need to be installed. and the damn thing takes forever to start up anyone got any ideas how to fix?

I'll assume you mean Windows updates instead of game updates etc., Most likely culprit for automatic updates failing and manual ones suceeding is firewall or proxy configs.
- Have a look here for a start: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 Not sure if the laptop is XP, Vista, has been recovered using a recovery/repair CD or what service pack it's currently installed to. Windows updates uses port 443 - make sure that port is open for outbound (not sure about inbound) connections on your firewall. Have alooksy here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;241783 Also might be worth adding http://*.microsoft.com to trusted zones -------------------- |
