I got the 4 pack for £15 the other day so I'm keen for a bit of zombie killing team action if anyone's up for it
Were still trying to get it to run successfully on Paula's pc so at the moment it would only be me. I have a few mates who also have the game though so if needs be we can rope them in for some brain/ing -------------------- Are we going to the same place, and if so can I come?

Sunday 21:00 GMT it is then.
Now... I'm fairly new to this so let me postulate... We have to create a server for this right? If so I'd love to be the host... only... I don't think it would last that long due to my 1.5Mbps backwater connection out here. Any takers on hosting? Also... what is the best way for communicating? Separate channels in Teamspeak I guess? Also, also... for invites to the game - to be able to join what are the requirements, by which I mean I have a few mates who are non clan but I think most of them, if not all are steam players. Do they all need to hop into a game via friends on steam or can they just find the server and put in a pass or what? I figure understanding the logistics of this before zero hour is a good idea lol. Nooob out! -------------------- Are we going to the same place, and if so can I come?

Nooob out! Firstly... I wouldn't recommend hosting a game. As a host your game will be fine, but everyone connecting to you will get massive lag. In the days of L4D I don't believe anyone chose to play with localhost type setup because of this. Generally the best way is to create a 'friends only lobby' in game (so only people on your friends list can join), then invite all participants through steam. Next search for an empty dedicated server to use. With any luck we'll find one nearby (europe) with decent pings. In the old days, the L4D ingame voice comms were fine for comms to your own team. We often ran the servers with all_talk on (where you can hear everyone including the other team) but this was more for social reasons, because by that stage everyone pretty much knew every tactic that was goinng to happen - meaning team chat was pretty moot in the face of gloating to the enemy team. It's much more likely to get a server with the standard voice comms (team only) so that's not a problem if you want to try for tactics and what not. And am sure we can use teamspeak for gloating -------------------- |
