Hi,
Basically in left 4 dead, when you join a lobby and search it will looks through all available servers; both public and group servers. To join the =SM= server, it has a tag called 'sneakymonkeys' which allows you to find it. This also means that people who don't have this tag set or are not members of the steam group can't join it (unless a game is already in progress) To join the =SM= server, open the console and type: sv_search_key sneaky Then create a lobby and start a game, it should then search through available servers (any with the sneakymonkeys tag) This option should remain in effect as long as the game is open - as in restarting the game should clear this setting. To manually remove the setting, open the console and type: sv_search_key ^- The above clears the search key and allows connection to any available public server. [Edit:] You can also set the game to use the search key automatically on start-up, by editing the shortcut and adding: +sv_search_key sneakymonkeys [Edit: Moved to bottom, this option works, but adding the cvar to the shortcut is easier & safer ] You can also set the game to use the search key automatically on start-up, by adding sv_search_key sneaky to your config.cfg in: "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\cfg" folder and edit the file to be read-only. This allows you to always connect the =SM= server when searching (providing its not in use), it will however limit other searches, unless you reset it (as above) * "Program Files" is "Program Files (x86)" on 64-bit operating systems -------------------- |
