Lets start at the end. Its dark, really fuckin dark. The real Day/Night cycle it set at the same time im playing, so its 10.30 dark. And im lost, in a massive forest. Im down to my last clip of ammunition. About 2 minutes ago I got jumped by a zombie who ran at me out of the dark. Its just battered me. To the point that my character has just freaked out and run off into the dark leaving my second last flare burning somewhere out there. I have one bandage and one vial of morphine left. My vision is slowly draining and my heart is pounding. Got to stop the blood. I apply the bandage but the attack is bad and its not working so i stumble on in the dark. All i can see are the outline of the trees against the clouds. Theres no moon. My Character collapses to the ground and I have to wait for him to recover. He eventually gets up and i stagger on. Only one flare left. Better save it.

Except I cant see anything. I have walked into a tree and havent been going anywhere. So i light my last flare.

Only 5 shots left after the last attack, and something is grumbling up ahead in the trees. I drop the flare arm myself and wait for the attack. But it doesnt come. The Z has shambled past not noticing me. I pick up the flare and stumble on.

I have no idea where I am. The only thing thats broken up the endless forest so far is an old caravan that was empty and i have been following the track ever since. 30 minutes of walking. I can here the paniced chatter of other players somewhere out there in this massive landscape getting murdered but they cant help. I collapse again. Theres something, more than one, ahead somewhere. And then my flare goes out.

Lets get one thing out of the way. This is ARMA and its to be expected that there are a few "issues" with controls. But you know what, it really works. Theres an awkwardness to everything you do, that would probably be the same if you had to do this shit in a real stressful situation. You have no idea who is friend or foe as I found out in my first game when i stumbled across another player in the dark. Guns pointed, not knowing what they where going to do. A quick hello and we are co-op. Until I get the attention of 5 zs and he runs off, only to return and gun me down for my stuff when ive killed all the ghouls.

You start off at a random spawn. You have a pistol. 9 flares, 2 bandages some food and some water. And the rest is down to you. When you die you are dead, you can respawn but you start with the same gear again. Anything you dropped when you died is gone. And thats the best bit. If you dont die your kit is saved to the character and when you log onto a new server it goes with you.

Hopefully next time the sun might be out.

I played two games tonight. The first was quick and bloody. The second an entirely different experience.

Nice! I've played about five times or so both night and in day, but I never expected to have so much fun playing this game and having memorable situations when teaming up with some people not knowing if they are friendly or not.

One time I was on a roof with lots of supplies not knowing what to do, but then I saw a flare in the distance then deciding to call out to see who was there. It was a lost solider looking for protection while being chased by zombies. So I decided to help him out and he led me to a camp where he had stored a sniper and a 'AK47' with a bunch a food. But next minute we were ambushed by 10-15 zombies which we stood off for a long time....until we ran out of ammo....and I dont think I need to explain the bit after that.....it was...horrific... and my fellow friend solider died in my arms.

that's just one situation I was in. I could of just killed the man in cold blood and took his gear, but then I would of never known about the weapons he was hiding away.

This is why I absolutely love this mod and I think anyone who reads this post should try it out! right now!

Of course it comes with glitches and bugs. But it's Alpha get over it wink.gif

what we should do 'Hypo' *or anyone else* is sort out a event and get some people to group up with each other and enjoy it together. That would be a hell lot of fun! biggrin.gif

Absolutely, Tried to play with Raile and Jaff at the weekend but spent most of the time trying to fix a bust mic. I want to set up a bandit hunting squad of vigilante badasses, but unfortunately this turn me into a bandit.

I played a super stealthy game the other night, no shots fired, strategic boxing round zs and collecting supplies only to get shot by two bastar....bandits. They seem to congregate around the hospital and airfield. I so want a sniper rifle and a nice spot in a hedge.

I was also thinking, i wonder if its possible to kite zs to a location. Say if they had a safezone could you say, set off a loud explosion near it and pull in surrounding munchers.

Well I found out *not sure if this is a bug or not* that if your getting chased by zombies, if you run into a building, they will either still follow you but walk very slowly or just run off.

But I like the idea of using explosives to pull in "munchers" wink.gif
