As some of the old veterans of BF2 will know, BF3 will feature BF2's strike at karkand map (and a few others from BF2), so thought it'd be nice to compare BF2 views against the same places in BF3
^ Above, the view towards train. Things I've noticed the buildings to the left aren't as high in BF3, so people near train might find themselves being sniped from the wall overlooking market-ish. Also there seems to be more stuff going on on the right - in BF2 the only cover between the trains and river over to cement factory were the trains themselves. It looks like there's more cover now. There also seems to be high buildings near the ramp down from suburb towards train. The roof of square seems to be flat roofed, the original BF2 used to have 3 levels which provided some cover from both nade spam and people sneaking up the ladder. it's a shame if this isn't included. The buildings next to the ramp towards market are a hell of a lot taller than in BF2. There seems to be more roadblocks to stop vehicles mowing across square in bf3. Obviously this also highlights the BF2 fog distance; a shot from the tall building near suburb (only just visible in BF2) would not be possible, in BF3 it looks like it's very possible Am wondering if the very large building in the distance is scenery or can be entered. I don't think the large building would be the suburb flag itself, however if you can enter it, this would negate any protection mounting the roof of suburb would have. There's also stairs going up the western route to suburb - this is a bit of a shame as that was a traditional choke point for suburb - with the stairs up suburb will now be attacked up the road (in the picture) and along the western flank. Again lots more obstacles to make driving around the area a bit dicey -------------------- |

Vehicles can jog on as far as I'm concerned anyway. Looks exciting though, brings back memories

If this game comes out and we are all playing Karkand again, then this game is a failure

I like to think even if we play Karkand more than any other map it's because of the history people like ourselves have with that map, I hope the other maps are good and we get more out of the game and totally see where you are coming from. But I wouldn't be disappointed if we still just played Karkand.

I was more than a little bored of Karkand at the end..
then again IF the game is good, then I will be playing vehicles, which I know you will distance yourself from.. so you can go play karkand while I play everything else |

Well I still hope that some of the other maps will be interesting enough on inf only. I would like more out of the game, I think the fact that I will be on the game far less, and barely be able to play with you guys means that I could have a prolonged enjoyment of Karkand.

BF2 looks better, If they have the pretty buildings and the dust storm I would be happier I actually kind of agree... I like the dust from bf2, although suspect this 'fog of war' is more to do with reducing the rendering load on the game, it also inhibits insane range sniping and adds a bit more of a cagey feel since you can't make out movement miles in the distance. BF2's karkand looks quite bleak, but then that's more how I'd expect a war-torn city to look -------------------- |

I like the dust storm too ... It would be cool if you get random weather that affects shit like that.. cold snaps and downpours to make you slip up, dust storms and fog to hinder visablity

Maybe ... hadn't considered that but with BF's movement and weight vibe it would be cool no? I mean why not randomly generate weather in multiplayer It would at least add something to keep us on our toes no?
