Anyone else playing this at the mo?
Picked it up for xbox360 and it's such a strange game. It's so full of great ideas, great quests, great story, etc. but has some of the worst bugs I have ever seen in a game. Technical crapiness and crashing aside, there are about a billion quest scripting bugs, AI glitches that make crazy stuff happen and a total lack of balance or polish on big chunks of the game. I've still put about 80 hours into it so far and have almost got to the end, but i've also come up against literally dozens of almost game breaking bugs that I could only recover from by going back to an earlier save and finding out how to avoid them in the first place. Obsidian have a dreadful track record for exactly this sort of thing and it looks like not much has changed. |

you bought a pc game for console?
shame on you.. it's 15 pounds more and will take much longer to get patches (if at all), not to mention paying for dlc (of which fo3 had tons of).. an fps-esque game to boot.. yes it has tons of bugs. ridiculous amounts. the pc version will be patched soon and I will be fine (currently the game is so bug-ridden that I stopped playing it ) |

Did I get shipped a different version to you guys (playing on PC)? Aside from a few crashes after several hours of play I've found no major bugs at all, a few minor quest glitches and the usual floating rocks due to the procedurally generated terrain but that's all, the only time I've had to reload a save is when I've died horribly.

i'm guessing you don't have an nvidia card, as most people with them have had the game rendered almost unplayable. i gave up after a few days trying to make it work. (although apparently there is a fix for it now, but i havn't tried that since i've started playing other things)

You need to play for longer than a few hours to experience many of the bugs as they are linked to quests not triggering, triggering incorrectly and becoming unfinishable. The companion AI also goes screwy as hell and it's easy to lose them alltogether. I wish I had got the PC version now, this sucks donkey balls. It's a real shame as underneath all the bollocks there is a genuinely great game. |

It's a real shame as underneath all the bollocks there is a genuinely great game. I'm playing on an Nvidia card (GTX470) and it displays fine, the only issues I've had have been very rare crashes which are probably card related since the GTX470 likes overheating and my dodgy temperature control hacking can only do so much, really need to get me a 3rd party cooler for it. As for quest issues when I say few hours I mean per play session, I've totalled several days of play time in total and not had any quest triggering issues, some of the triggers aren't always obvious, but that's a not really an issue as I see it, I've never had any fail to trigger when I've actually completed the objective. Companion AI is a bit screwy, I'll give you that, but hardly game breaking, just need to occasionally tell them to wait and follow again to get them back in line is all I've found, but then I am on the PC version. |

I'm on a GTX295 and an I7. Out of pure luck I've not had a single crash or any lag whatsoever.
The game has the usual bugs and bad AI associated with fallout 3, but it's still a good game (Fuck that stupid flower picking quest near the beginning where I had to pick two flowers to combine them into some medicine, found one in the advertised location, but couldn't find the other after looking for around half an hour.. eventually resorting to the interweb to be told that they're random spawns and may not actually be there - the solution to map out and back again resets the spawns). Made me want to rage. -------------------- |

If you have gotten to the final quest of the starter town, and you aren't getting lag there, then you're fine. That scene for me was nearly unplayable. |

As mentioned in that bit you quoted I've played a fair amount, at the moment I'm nearing the start of the end, I think. I've done pretty much every side quest I can find and now only have what I think are ending type final story quests to do. Certainly I've had many human characters on screen as I've been into the Vegas casinos. |

Out of curiosty has anyone done the Vault 22 quest? There was a side quest that you had to do in that (not going to spoil it unless folks ahve already been there) and there only seemed 1 way to do it that involved a completely random loot drop very early in the game. I thought that was a bit strange but glad i had the item (it involves gas if you want a bit a of a cryptic reference).

Ive experienced the odd crash but nothing gamebreaking, and no problems with quest triggers. Logged about 40 hours so far and im almost at the end-game point. The only issues ive had were with dodgy companion AI and companions completely disappearing, funnily enough disappearing companions are easily fixed by utilising the elevator bug in one of the vaults
Hypo, pm me the quest details, pretty sure ive done vault 22. -------------------- |

Good day to you sir. Didn't bother with call of duty/medal of honour. I quite liked fallout although I suspect it's not everyone's cup of tea. Will have to hold off on the arcade for a bit - things are a little busy at the moment. Anyhoo have a merry xmas if you're not back on the site before then -------------------- |
