part of the problem for you 6 is that, unless I am wrong, you are playing by yourself. yes you play with others on the server but you aren't playing with a clan or anything.. if you don't want to be in vehicles, then taking them on as infantry is difficult unless with at least one or two others working together.. playing that way, you'll always eventually get fed up I'd imagine. maybe you should just embrace the vehicles and actually use one? I know you prefer infantry (as do I), but that doesn't mean there is no fun to be had in them.. Granted, I haven't been playing with a clan for obvious reasons but I have been trying to play as a squad while in game and there is usually two or three of us who stick together, I have also spent quite a bit of time in the vehicles but the only time I can really get to grips with them is when there is no vehicles occupying the sky. I find Tehran Highway to be a good map for myself to get in with the vehicles and also have a mix of infantry play, I want to see how the Paris maps play as I know they have no air force in the maps and look like my sort of thing. |

Agreed, I've just come off a session and had mixed feelings with the vehicles. Even though they are available I still find myself going on foot and trying to take them out with the RL so I can capture the flags by hiding more easily. I am starting to enjoy the engineer class, I think people will use that mostly unless on IO in which case people will use assault. |

removing vehicles (a major aspect of the game and the only thing that really is going to set this new battlefield apart from COD), seems a bit extreme imo inf only didn't come in to bf2 until we'd all been playing the game with vehicles for 2 years... I know 6 you always say you don't like vehicles but at the same time I've always thought you've never really given them a chance.. not entirely your fault as you came in to BF late in the game, but still.. You are right Raile with the fact that I came into the game later and didn't have the same experience with vehicles as you have done. I have tried to give them a chance before and sometimes I find they can be fun. I think most of the problem (certainly atm on BF3) is the lack of team play, no one wants to cap flags but just want kills and I end up getting owned on flags by vehicles so much that it's becoming quite frustrating. Hence why I have been playing engineer quite a lot. I am willing to adapt and get better with the vehicles, but with there being one empty IO server in my region (in fact in all of Asia, Antarctica and Oceania) it would be nice to have an alternative that has been my preference since I started playing BF2. |

Agreed, tbh I can't really have too much of a say as I wont be able to use the servers much at all. Can't wait to see what my ping will be when I try joining from Brisbane |

Sounds good, will stick with the components I have chosen then. Any idea on sound cards? I would need one with 5.1, 3.5mm outputs for my headphones but unsure if the creative or asus ones are best. |

Awesome, will go back to the 750 then unless I come across something better. Kadey, what specs are you running? Any known issues I should look out for? Part of the reason I went with that card is because of the heatsink that comes on it, saw some reviews that had the card at 10 degrees under the stock cards temp when running under load so thought it would be a good choice to have overclocked. I've noticed they also do a phantom 560Ti with 2gb of ram but I'm not sure how that compares with the performance of the 570n and if it's worth considering. |

Yeah I had a look at their background and looks as though they are. Was quite impressed with the board's features for the money so think I'll switch to that one. Was also thinking of switching the PSU to a cheaper 600W one to save a bit, think this will still be good enough to go SLI with or would the 750W one be a better option? |

Anyone know much about ASRock? found the Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 board which looks quite good for the money but haven't heard much about the manufacturer. |

Yeah I would like to grab an SSD but would ideally like to have enough space on it for my OS and all my games, and to get a drive that is big enough to hold all of that will cost quite a bit of money. That's really why I was prepared to wait until after the rainy season to buy that and stick with something to make do for the moment. |

Hi Everyone, I'm planning on building a new PC as I haven't had a new desktop since my uni days and while the laptop serves me well it doesn't do all the new games I want to play justice (I also fucking hate my ATI Mobility card). I have listed some specs which I have compiled myself derived from the 'bang for buck' scenario. Any input you guys have would be greatly appreciated in trying to get the best system for the money, I will be doing things later on such as adding a SSD and a second GFX card hence why I have chosen the mobo I have. The prices I have listed are all from the following site ( http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=2 ) feel free to see what they have to offer, it is pretty much the only source of parts I can use for numerous reasons so if you are going to suggest any components would be helpful if they are on this site. I can't imagine I would get any other CPU and my reasoning behind the GFX card is due to overclocking capabilities, if anyone could suggest a decent CPU fan too that would be great. Things like the PSU I honestly have very little clue what makes one better then the other so once again price has influenced my decision on this. Anyway here are the specs, look forward to hearing your thoughts. 6 CPU = Intel i5 2500k ($233) Mobo = Asus P8Z68-V PRO ($222) GPU = Gainward GTX570 Phantom ($395) RAM = Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 ($109) PSU = OCZ Fatalt1ty 750W PSU ($130) HDD = Western Digital 1TB SATA3 64M IntelliPowe CaviarGreen ($65) Case = Antec Three Hundred ($65) Total = $1155 |

Well I still hope that some of the other maps will be interesting enough on inf only. I would like more out of the game, I think the fact that I will be on the game far less, and barely be able to play with you guys means that I could have a prolonged enjoyment of Karkand. |

I like to think even if we play Karkand more than any other map it's because of the history people like ourselves have with that map, I hope the other maps are good and we get more out of the game and totally see where you are coming from. But I wouldn't be disappointed if we still just played Karkand. |

I found that game to have potential with the theory of how it works but put into practice it had its moments of sucking really hard. Seeing as it's had a huge revamp and it's free I'll give it a go when I am back in Brisvegas. |
